Privacy Policy

Effective 6 October 2026

myhouse is a small, non-commercial app for sharing expenses, shopping lists and plans with the people you live with. It is run by an individual (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal data myhouse handles, why, and what choices you have.

1. Data we collect

2. How we use it

Only to run myhouse: signing you in, showing your name and photo to the people in your houses, storing and syncing what you add, calculating balances, producing AI drafts you asked for, and keeping the service secure. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your data for profiling or marketing.

3. Google user data

myhouse's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google account data is used only to sign you in and to show your name, email and photo inside your houses. It is not transferred to anyone else except as described in section 4, not used for advertising, and not used to train AI models.

4. Who can see your data

When you paste a recipe link into the AI feature, our server fetches that web page to read the ingredients.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in (up to 90 days) and short-lived cookies during sign-in and when you open an invite link. Your browser also remembers which house you last opened. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.

6. How long we keep data

We keep your data while you use myhouse. If you leave a house, expenses you were part of stay in that house's history because other members' balances depend on them. When a house's admin deletes a house, it disappears from the app for everyone, but its data is kept so it can be restored on request; ask us if you want it erased. When you ask us to delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days; encrypted backups are overwritten within a further 30 days.

7. Legal basis (EU/UK)

We process your data to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract) and, for security and abuse prevention, on the basis of our legitimate interests.

8. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to restrict or object to its processing. You can change your name and photo in Settings at any time. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD).

9. Security

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS), sign-in cookies are signed and not readable by scripts, and every request is checked so you can only reach houses you belong to. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

10. Children

myhouse is not intended for anyone under 16.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the date above, and tell you in the app about significant changes.

12. Contact

For questions or requests about your data, use the support email shown on myhouse's Google sign-in screen (tap the app name there), or ask the person who invited you to pass it on.
